The term Atlantis goes (etymologically) back to Atlas. We learn about Atlas for the first time from Hesiod's THEOGONIA, a kind of theology from the 8th century BC: As son of the Titan Iapetos and the Clymene, Atlas fought in the uprising against the gods on the side of the Titans, ...who lost then. Thereupon Atlas is condemned by Zeus to carry the sky on his shoulders on a distant island in the northern sea...                                                                                                              With Plato, however, Atlas (Cri. 113 c/14 a) was the eldest son of Poseidon with Kleito. >The whole island and the sea was named after Atlas, which was called the Atlantic because the first king was named Atlas<. - So much for the myths.

In real history, we learn from Herodotus (490/480 - around 430/420 VC) that in his time the sea outside the Pillars of Heracles (Gibraltar) was called the Sea of Atlas; - the Atlantic Sea; - the Atlantic Ocean.                                                      And in TIMAEUS we then learn from Plato (Tim. 24 e) about that >great army power, which came from the Atlantic Sea to all Europe and Asia<.                          It can be concluded on the basis of the >if-then-logic<, the former existence of the Atlantic Ocean’s riparian people, - the Atlanteans - and from this, ...all other >locations of Atlantis<, we should therefore no longer seriously discuss.

Merenptah reports on his >Year 5 Stela< (1.208 BC) about his victory over a coalition of Lebu, Turscha, Sekeles, Peleset, Theker, Denen, Sardana, Wasasa and Meschwesch coming from the north, who enter the written history of this world for the first time under the name Nine Bow People; - the NineBows:

The Ninth Bow is primarily a geographical term:                                                      As a kind of precurser of the current longitudes and latitudes, the Egyptians' geocentric world view was divided into ten bows. I don't know a pictorial representation of  h o w  the individual bows were scaled. However, the basic concept is known, ...according to which the sun casts no shadow at the first bow at noon and ...stands in the north at midnight on the tenth bow; >in the far darkness<. - It is considered certain that the Ninth Bow runs through the land of Temeh; the North Land.                                                                                              As the term NineBows stood in Ramses’ III times (1.183 - 1.152 BC) for the peoples of the Ninth Bow. So, in Egyptian annals, the people of the North and Baltic Sea were called NineBows and/or Temehu; Northerners.

At the time of the New Kingdom of Egypt (1550 - 1070 BC) Atlas (including all grammatical derivatives) was still completely unthinkable; - it comes from a later epoch:                                                                                                                        Ramses III speaks of a union of peoples from the >Ninth Bow<, which infiltrated Egypt at the end of the 13th century and settled there. Med. Habu plate 46:  >Year 8 under his majesty the Horus (1.175 BC): Mighty as a bull, strong and with sharp claws like a lion, who captures the Asians with a strong arm; favorite of the two goddesses: Powerful like his father Montu, victor over the Nine Bows, who subdued them and drove them out of Egypt...<

For the verification of the NineBow peoples as Atlanteans, the >report continues with year 8<: (Plate 46, 70 - 84:)                                                                          >...I appeared like Re (the sun itself) as king in Egypt; I protect here by chasing away the NineBows for here<.  (Egypt was a >she<; - the autor.)

Only a few lines of the king's boastful tirades stand out as historically relevant, but with the listing of the Atlantean nomenclature they provide a concise insight into the events of that time:

From Medinet Habu plate 46, 79/80:                                                                    >The Peleset, Theker, Sekeles, Denen and the Wasasa belonged to their union. They laid their hands on the lands of the whole world, their hearts brimming with self-confidence. >Our plans will succeed<. Now the heart of the God, the prince of all gods, was preparing to catch them like birds in a net<.

On the Sea Battle Panorama (Med. Habu plate 37-39) it says: BEHIND  THE KING: >Now those from the Northland (the Northerners) who came from their islands tremble all over their bodies…<.

...and on plate 44 it says >BEFORE THE KING<: >My strong arm has overthrown (defeated) those who have come to rise themselves up: the Peleset, the Denen and the Sekeles...<

In summary, we learn from the Medinet-Habu texts of Ramses III , the former riparian peoples of the North- and the Baltic Sea Areas - two inland seas of the Atlantic Ocean - were recorded with their attempted land grab in Egypt as Atlanteans.
